Today, that evolution is driven by The Luggage Lab—an in-house design, fabrication, and testing workshop dedicated to solving modern travel problems. Here is the comprehensive story of who we are, what we do, and how we are changing the way Albuquerque travels.

Who We Are

Lieber's Luggage is a locally owned and operated Albuquerque business, steered by Dustin and Felicia Boyd. The operation is supported by a dedicated store staff—including Dave, Julia, Justin, and Tait—who ensure that every customer receives expert advice and prompt, attentive service. Our floor coverage policies, including the "Rule of Two," guarantee that shoppers are never left waiting, even when the store gets busy.

What is The Luggage Lab?

The Luggage Lab is the research, development, and custom fabrication wing of Lieber's Luggage. It is where retail meets manufacturing. Instead of simply selling what big-box brands produce, we identify gaps in the travel market and engineer our own solutions.

The Workshop & Fabrication

The Lab features a custom hardware fabrication setup designed for precision and durability. Our workshop is equipped with manual leather cutting presses, one-ton arbor press feet, custom Delrin press base plates, and the capability to produce bulk anodized aluminum metal luggage tags.

In-House Products & Innovations

Through the Luggage Lab, we have developed a proprietary line of high-quality travel accessories and gear, including:

• Bongels 2.0: Our house-made pom-pom bag identifiers, designed to be tied to a bag's top or side carry handle for instant recognition at baggage claim.
• The Legacy Collection: Our flagship line of suitcases, available in 21" carry-on, 28", and 31" checked sizes in Black and Mocha.
• Tech Accessories: We produce Luggage Locators compatible with Apple Find My, RFID shielding disruptor cards for wallet security, and ultimate international travel adapters.
• Travel Essentials: Custom 5-pack metal zipper pulls in multiple finishes (Black, Silver, Gold, Ancient Bronze, Gun Metal), mini folding travel umbrellas, and silicone collapsible 500ml water bottles.

Why We Do It: Ending "Disposable" Luggage

The travel goods industry is flooded with cheap, mass-produced bags designed to break and be thrown away. The Luggage Lab was created to counter this wasteful cycle.

The Legacy Collection is the ultimate expression of this mission. We built these suitcases with ultra-lightweight yet highly durable polypropylene shells, flexible frames, programmable TSA locks, built-in USB ports, and stealth tracker pockets. Most importantly, the Legacy line is completely repairable. If a wheel or handle takes a hit from a rough baggage handler, it can be fixed in-house.

This commitment to sustainability extends to our community outreach. When customers upgrade their gear, we take their gently used bags that still have a lot of miles left in them and donate them to local families in need.
