From Sales Associate to Store Owner
In 2002, a young man named Dustin Boyd walked into Lieber's Luggage looking for a job. He started on the floor as a sales associate, learned the business from the ground up, worked his way into management, and eventually did something most employees only dream about: he bought the place.
Dustin and his wife Felicia—who at the time was a partner at a local Albuquerque law firm—made the leap together and became the proud co-owners of one of New Mexico's most beloved retail institutions. Two people, one shared vision, and a whole lot of luggage.
Who Are Dustin and Felicia Boyd?
We are the co-owners of Lieber's Luggage, located at 6515 Menaul Blvd NE right here in Albuquerque. Our team's mission is straightforward: equip our community with everything they need to travel efficiently, comfortably, and confidently.
We curate the best travel brands in the industry—Briggs & Riley, Travelpro, Bric's, Osprey, and SCOTTeVEST—alongside our very own locally assembled Lieber's Legacy Collection. From expertly fitting a traveler with the perfect carry-on to advising on the best packing systems, our mission is simple:

Then & Now: How Lieber's Has Evolved
Lieber's Luggage has been an Albuquerque institution for decades. Then, it was about providing durable, traditional suitcases for a very different era of travel. Now, the travel landscape changes by the minute—shifting airline restrictions, evolving security requirements, and new technology demand a different kind of expertise.
We have evolved into a modern travel hub. Today we stock advanced gear like RFID-blocking security wallets, high-tech carry-ons, and smart compression packing systems. We even launched our own exclusive Lieber's Legacy luggage line—assembled right here in the USA, with 8-spinner wheels and a free custom monogram on every bag.
But while the products have modernized, the core of our Then remains exactly the same: old-school, personalized customer service and deep product knowledge. You simply cannot get that level of hands-on guidance from an online retailer.
What Albuquerque Means to Us
Albuquerque is our home. And we believe a true local business should take care of its neighbors.
A major cornerstone of our store's culture is our Annual Trade-In Sale, which recently marked its 44th year. We invite the community to bring in their older luggage in exchange for a discount on new gear. We then take those trade-ins—gently used bags that still have plenty of miles left in them—and donate them directly to local New Mexico families and charities in need.
It is our way of giving back and ensuring that the dignity of having a good, reliable bag is accessible to everyone in our city.
