Two Names. One Letter. A Legacy That Lives On.

Two Names. One Letter. A Legacy That Lives On.

Two of the biggest names in luggage. Connected by a letter written before World War II.

In 2017, Richard Kurlick — who would go on to own Briggs & Riley — found a document in his mother’s basement. A sponsorship letter, signed by a man named Max Lieber, promising to help Richard’s grandfather Hans Ax escape Austria as the war began.

The letterhead? Lieber’s Luggage. Cleveland, Ohio.

Small world.

The Tradition We Carry

That letter is a reminder of what luggage has always really been about — not just getting from point A to point B, but carrying what matters most. Your life. Your family. Your story.

It’s a tradition we take seriously here in Albuquerque.

Our Legacy Collection Carry-On is assembled right here in the USA — built for people who don’t compromise on durability, and who understand that a great bag isn’t just a purchase, it’s an investment in every trip ahead. Eight spinner wheels, free custom monogram, and a lifetime of miles in it.

And if you’re a Briggs & Riley traveler, you already know what that standard feels like. The Briggs & Riley Baseline 21" Global Carry-On — one of our best sellers — carries that same DNA: lifetime guarantee, thoughtful engineering, built to last.

Two great luggage names. One remarkable story connecting them.
