Looking good at 50! Recent Toys, together with Professor Uwe Meffert, the inventor of the Pyraminx, celebrate the Pyraminx’s golden anniversary with a transparent crystal rendition of the original classic puzzle.

The purpose of the Pyraminx is usually to scramble the colors, and then restore them to their original configuration. But this version of the Pyraminx is clear. Look again. each side has a coloured line around the edge of the tetrahedron. Not much to go by and definitely the clear pieces will confuse but that just means more puzzling.

The Pyraminx is a puzzle in the shape of a regular tetrahedron, divided into 4 axial pieces, 6 edge pieces, and 4 trivial tips. It can be twisted along its cuts to permute its pieces. The axial pieces are octahedral in shape, although this is not immediately obvious, and can only rotate around the axis they are attached to. The 6 edge pieces can be freely permuted. The trivial tips are so-called because they can be twisted independently of all other pieces, making them trivial to place in solved position.

The Pyraminx was the first twisty puzzle designed by Uwe Meffert (b.1939 – d. April 2022) in 1970 but he didn’t actually have the puzzle manufactured and sold until 1981; after the Rubik’s Cube craze had really taken hold.  Since then Uwe has created over 100 styles of twisty puzzles. The Meffert brand stands for high quality, and innovation, combined with a top-class manufacturer like Recent Toys, we’re able to bring you the latest releases.

The world record fastest Pyraminx solve is 0.91 seconds, set by Dominik Górny of Poland on 24 June 2018 at Byczy Cube Race 2018. The world record fastest average of five Pyraminx solves (excluding fastest and slowest) is 1.86 seconds, set by Tymon Kolasiński of Poland on 6 April 2019 at Grudziądz Open 2019.
This version of the Pyraminx is not officially a speed cube but it does have incredibly smooth turning if you want to try to get very fast at solving it.

Size: Each side of the pyramid is 100mm
Packaged in the triangular special Limited Edition box. This version echoes the hand-made original model that has inspired millions of people worldwide for the past 50 years!
