They’re everything but the trip. Founded in 1906 in Cleveland, Ohio, Lieber’s Luggage made its way to Albuquerque in 1978 due to the hard work of Frank Fine. And for nearly five decades, the passionate people behind the Lieber’s name have been helping the community prepare for traveling with the best bags, brands, and buys.
”So, Lieber’s has always been about carrying the most, having the most variety and having the best prices,” said Dustin Boyd, the president of Lieber’s Luggage. “So, we sell all types and varieties. We do make our own and sell our own luggage here in the luggage lab but really, we are in cooperation with the best names in the business.”
Everything can be found on the shelves at Lieber’s Luggage. They’re top-notch, generational pieces of luggage whose name speaks for itself. But there’s another brand that Lieber’s sells that you may not be as familiar with, but its quality is just as incredible. It’s called the Lieber’s Legacy Line.
“Our bag that we make, the Legacy line, is a polypropylene bag. It’s a multi-wheel spinner, it’s got the pseudo-suiter, it’s an amazing bag…” said Dustin.
There are several things that make this bag stand out. For starters, the variety. “That bag right there is three sizes, two colors. This bag there is a large, medium and small,” said Dustin.
It’s durable.
“They are polypropylene, which is an incredibly durable material, so they are not likely to crack like other types of material or break very easily. Like he said, you could almost like step on one and it will bounce back. It’s kind of malleable; it doesn’t have that hard plastic feel,” said Felicia Castill-Boyd, the owner of Lieber’s Luggage. “Also, the bags are made to be repaired so if a wheel were to fall off or something like that it would be relatively easy to screw it back in with a screwdriver. So, you don’t see that in all bags on the market.”
And what’s perhaps the coolest part, the Lieber’s Legacy bag is built right in their very own luggage lab. “When COVID happened, so many supply shortages, we had the perfect opportunity to bring product in, assemble it ourselves in the U.S., no one else in the country is doing that,” said Dustin. “We have product here in the U.S, we are building it here and I want to share it with you all I’m excited.”
A lot went into create the Lieber’s Legacy bag, from the design to the colors to the structure, but the core of the design was you, the customer. “We thought of people in Albuquerque, El Paso, Denver, our people, our Rio Grande people when we made this bag, and we are so happy to be in our community and be able to provide this quality product,” said Dustin.
But Lieber’s is so much more than just a luggage store. They are also a great place for gifts, gadgets and games. “Well, Lieber’s has always been about gifts which not a whole lot of people know about that but it’s a great place to come and pick up like puzzles, like a little puzzle that you want to take with you on a trip, games, little wallets, RFID blocking cards that you can give to people to put in their wallet and it will help prevent digital pickpocketing,” said Felicia.
“Yea so, padfolios, briefcases, duffle bags, leather backpacks, sunglasses, gifts, gadgets and games, pillows, blankets, everything travel and more and we want to see you come by the store,” said Dustin.
But if you are unable to make it into their store, don’t worry. Lieber’s has a YouTube channel dedicated to answering any of your travel questions. It’s like they are bringing the store right to you.
“I would say that it’s the extension of our store. We are everything but the trip. We try to explain travel related things. We will explain TSA locks, we’ll do packing demonstrations. Felicia, you did a great video on voltage…”, said Dustin.

“Our luggage manufacturers actually support a sale that was historically started here at Lieber’s luggage. We donate them to CYFD and local kids and people that need bags.”
